My Small Stories Dream Room

and how I made it

This is a page all about the Small Stories: At Home in a Dolls' House, Exhibition in Norwich Castle Museum and how I made my Dream Room, one of 22 to go in the finale of the exhibition.

Twelve of the Victoria and Albert Museum of Childhood's most treasured Dolls' Houses are touring the world and will be visiting Norwich from 4th March to 25th June 2017. I am honoured for mine to be one of the 22 boxes chosen for this part of the tour and feel I would like to share with you how it came to be.

The first thing I did was make an ideas page of what I wanted for my room.  I didn't want a conventional indoor room.  Many people like to experiment with the outside of a dolls' house, gardens, sheds, Greenhouses and really just about anything you can think of.

My ideas page, it evolved in the making.

My Box

I started by making the walls and base from MDF

I mixed air dry clay to the correct colour.

I rolled the clay out and made the brick pattern by pressing a mould into the clay.
